Project Benefits
Community Benefits
We will be asking communities surrounding the proposed wind farm to help us shape a community benefit package that best meets local needs and wishes.
There are a wide range of community benefit options to be considered, such as capital funding of projects and local regeneration to apprenticeships and support for local groups and clubs.
We will look to discuss all ideas with community councils, development trusts and local representatives as the project progresses through development.
We are committed to an equivalent of up to £5,000 per installed MW per annum in community benefit. Based on the ambition of installing over 50MW of capacity, this could mean in excess of £250,000 a year or £8.75m over the 35-year lifetime of the wind farm, to be shared among the communities within a 10km radius of the site.
We will look to meet with local groups and community representatives to seek input as the project progresses.
Economic Benefits
The development aims to create direct and indirect economic benefits including:
Local jobs during construction
A range of contracts available for tender; local companies will be encouraged to apply
The potential for local jobs, once the wind farm is operational
