About the Project
Project Specifics
The initial proposals in the Scoping Request were for up to 32 turbines, up to 200m to tip in height. We have been assessing the environmental impacts and have revised the layout in line with those findings. We are still proposing to develop a project which will generate over 50MW of clean, green energy for a period of 35 years. We took a revised layout of 16 turbines to the community for consultation at the end of 2022. This reduction in turbine numbers has been influenced by a number of factors, including the landform and hydrology of the site, ecological considerations, landscape and visual assessment and community views.
Energy storage will also be included in the plans in order to maximise the potential energy use on site. This helps with balancing the grid network when it’s very windy or at night when demand is lower.
These issues, and many more, have been assessed as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process, with a Section 36 application submitted to the Scottish Government for consideration in June 2023. South Ayrshire Council is a statutory consultee in this process.
