Who is REG Knockodhar Ltd?
REG Knockodhar Ltd is a joint venture between REG Power Management and ESB.
REG Power Management, established in 2005, is a UK developer, owner and operator of renewable energy projects, having developed and built over 1GW of operational wind and solar projects. We are working in partnership with ESB, Ireland’s part state-owned electricity utility company, who provide power to over 1.5million customers, including businesses and householders across Scotland and the rest of the UK. ESB has offices in Glasgow and, as well as operating onshore and offshore wind farms, is heavily involved in electric vehicle infrastructure and renewable heating systems, such as installing the low carbon heating and cooling system in the V&A Dundee.
What will be the size of the turbines?
A number of different turbine options are currently being investigated. Following the extensive environmental survey work, we are now looking at a mixture of turbine sizes up to 200m. The ongoing environmental impact assessment work will feed into this process from a number of perspectives, including landscape and visual impact, noise and transportation. We will then narrow down the assessment in order to bring more detailed information to community consultation days later in the process.
What is the community benefit offering?
We are committed to the equivalent of up to £5,000 per MW per annum. We would also be keen to hear if there is interest in shared ownership of the project from the local community.

Representations to the application may be submitted to Scottish Ministers via the Scottish Government Energy Consents Unit until 21 July 2023, either via the website at www.energyconsents.scot/Register.aspx; by email to representations@gov.scot; or by post to Scottish Government Energy Consents Unit, 4th Floor, 5 Atlantic Quay, 150 Broomielaw, Glasgow, G2 8LU, identifying the proposal and specifying the grounds for representation.
Written or emailed representations should be dated, clearly stating the name (in block capitals) and full return email and postal address of those making representations. Only representations sent by email to representations@gov.scot will receive acknowledgement.
How will REG engage on the project?
We understand that local residents will want more details about the plans. We appreciated that traditional meetings and public events were not possible during the pandemic and followed all Scottish Government advice in relation to Covid-19 by undertaking a first round of consultation online. We subsequently returned to face to face meetings with a round of in person community open days and all of the exhibition material is still available on our website in the Documents section.
